Savings for Shopping Center REIT
Project Description
A blue-chip REIT that owns and manages 135 regional malls throughout the United States lacked a focused approach to pursuing energy cost reduction opportunities in deregulated electric markets. The company wanted a process that would expedite identifying a cost savings opportunity and executing an energy commodity transaction.

Sieben’s Role
Working with a prioritized list of markets in which the client had its most significant exposure, Sieben launched an effort to identify cost savings opportunities. After the opportunities were identified, the client authorized Sieben to solicit pricing from the most active suppliers and negotiate 4-5 supply contracts simultaneously in order to be prepared to rapidly execute an agreement based on price-specific recommendations.
 
Results
Sieben Energy Associates presented the client with a significant energy cost reduction transaction in a utility territory that had previously been evaluated as lacking savings opportunity. We're currently presenting the client with electric supply transaction opportunities in deregulated markets using Sieben's expertise and speed to accelerate the realization of savings.
