LEED for New Construction
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a program of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). LEED establishes uniform standards for new and existing buildings that focus on environmentally-friendly design, construction, and operation. Increasingly, certifying new construction through the LEED program delivers both additional value and prestige. A number of municipalities have also begun requiring that all new construction be designed and certified according to LEED standards.
SEA is at the forefront of the LEED movement. Since 2001, SEA has provided LEED consulting services for numerous projects, ranging in area from 4,000 to 1.5 million square feet, and receiving certifications at the Certified, Silver, Gold, and Platinum levels. We have successfully certified more than 50 projects to date, and we are currently implementing our proven process with more than 100 buildings. Review case studies of a few of our LEED projects.
Our consultants excel at guiding your company or organization through LEED certification for new construction of various building types. We also offer special services for those planning to build green homes, as well as for contractors seeking the advice of LEED specialists. Our commissioning team is skilled at optimizing energy and mechanical systems in new buidlings. Visit our Commissioning page for more information.
Buildings
SEA employs an integrated building approach to produce efficient and fully-idealized programs within budget and timeframe. SEA's LEED APs have deep experience with all aspects of LEED project management. Your design team members, including other consultants and specialized advisors, are encouraged to participate in streamlining all cross-system requirements. Following our general scope of consulting, documentation and specification, and construction services, our goal is to guide each team to achieving the desired level of LEED certification.
SEA is committed to being an invaluable resource to ownership and all design team members from project initiation through completion. We assist the general contractor and associated subcontractors throughout the construction phase, assuring that their work aligns with the established LEED goals and approach.
Contractor Support
SEA assists construction teams in understanding the LEED program requirements and other energy or sustainability project requirements. Our team reviews specification requirements and works directly with the architect, owner, and/or other consultants to establish project expectations. We guide contractors through the LEED process and provide support by collecting, completing, and submitting all required LEED related documentation.
For contractors considering LEED, SEA is available to conduct informational presentations on LEED and its effects on the various construction trades. For example, our presentations could provide an overview of LEED programs as well as implementation and documentation best practices that SEA has identified through years of experience working on LEED for new construction.
