Utility Rate Optimization

Utility rate optimization is the process that Sieben Energy Associates (SEA) employs to transition an energy customer’s existing utility rate to the most beneficial rate available. By carefully analyzing the electricity and natural gas consumption patterns of our client’s facility, our energy purchasing team determines whether or not the local utility offers a more cost-effective tariff. If it does, SEA’s consultants undertake the steps with the utility necessary to switch rates on behalf of our client.

If the energy consumption at a particular building increases or decreases significantly, perhaps as a result of a rise or fall in production or employees, current utility rates may not be optimal. If accounts are being created following new construction, renovation, or tenant occupation, particular care is necessary to make sure that new accounts, which of course have no history, are assigned to the appropriate rate classes from the start. Non-optimal rates may lead to excessive energy costs.
