Craig Sieben Appointed President of Leadership Greater Chicago Board

(Chicago, IL- July 12, 2010) Craig Sieben, president of Sieben Energy Associates, was recently selected to serve as the incoming president of the Leadership Greater Chicago (LGC) Board of Directors.The LGC Fellows Program inducts annual classes of talented men and women selected from among emerging leaders in the business, nonprofit, and government sectors. LGC Fellows address issues such as education, housing, healthcare, race relations, and community awareness. Sieben is excited to serve as incoming President of LGC and recognizes the importance that LGC plays in the city and suburbs. A native of the Chicago area, he is dedicated to the region’s green initiatives, as well as to community and leadership development.

Breathing Easy in the South Loop: AMLI 900 Earns LEED Certification

(Chicago, IL – May 20, 2010) AMLI 900 recently became Chicago’s first rental residential high rise to earn LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification from the US Green Building Council. Sieben Energy Associates was the LEED consultant and systems commissioning agent for the project. The 24-story, 480,000-square-foot tower features several innovative sustainable elements, including the “Breathe Easy” program developed by owner AMLI Residential, making it the first 100% smoke-free high rise residential building in Chicago.

120 North LaSalle Street Building Receives LEED Gold

(Chicago, IL – January 25, 2010) The United States Green Building Council (USGBC) recently awarded the 120 North LaSalle Street Building, Chicago, Illinois, with a prestigious certification that recognizes their strong energy and sustainability efforts. Sieben Energy Associates (SEA)—a Chicago-based energy and sustainability services firm—was the consultant on the successful 12-month project that concluded in January 2010. The 120 North LaSalle Street Building is managed by Lincoln Property Company (LPC).

The Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) granted 120 North LaSalle Street with LEED EB O&M (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Buildings Operations and Maintenance) certification at the Gold level. According to the USGBC website, LEED provides both new and existing buildings with “practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.”

Sieben Energy Associates Nominated for USGBC Natural Leaders Award

(Chicago, IL – February 26, 2010)Sieben Energy Associates (SEA) was recently nominated for a “Natural Leaders” award, given annually by the Chicago Chapter of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). 

SEA received four nominations in the “Intent to Matter” category. According to the USGBC’s award description, this category “recognizes an organizational leader or individual that is deliberate in embedding sustainability into building design, construction, or operation.”

Platts presented IKEA North American with an award for its 2009 contribution to sustainability

(New York, NY –  December 2, 2009) At its Global Energy Outlook Forum, Platts presented IKEA North American with an award for its 2009 contribution to sustainability. Platts is a unit of The McGraw-Hill Companies.  IKEA North American received this special recognition for being a Platts Global Energy Awards Finalist for its outstanding 2008-09 energy efficiency program.

 

The initiative to reduce energy use and identify opportunities to employ renewable energy sources in IKEA’s U.S. stores and distribution centers was launched in spring 2008 as part of IKEA’s worldwide program aimed at reducing energy consumption and significantly decreasing its dependence upon fossil-based fuels, referred to as IGR, IKEA Goes Renewable.
