Craig Sieben
Craig, our president, founded Sieben Energy Associates in 1990. He is a widely-respected energy efficiency expert and leader of the modern, rapidly-growing field of professional energy management that he helped pioneer more than two decades ago. Today, Craig pilots the company and contributes to its strategic consulting and management services business lines.
Prior to founding SEA, he worked as a research and marketing assistant at Daniel Yergin’s Cambridge Energy Research Associates. Craig later founded the Super-insulation Information Service, a consultancy to building professionals, and he was vice president for marketing at The Lighting Corporation.
He is a member of several associations and business leagues, and speaks frequently on energy efficiency and policy. Craig earned a Bachelor of Arts in Energy Policy at Hampshire College in Massachusetts.
Jerry Burin
Executive Vice President Jerry Burin leads Sieben Energy Associates’ energy purchasing, energy efficiency and LEED for existing buildings services. He also contributes to SEA’s integrated energy management services, which combine energy commodity management, energy engineering and energy information management into an integrated single-source service. Jerry supports clients in a broad range of industry sectors, including real estate, higher education, healthcare, manufacturing and retail services.
He joined SEA in 1998 after spending 25 years in the commercial real estate industry. Jerry’s arrival coincided with the spread of electric deregulation nationally, and he took a lead role as SEA began consulting on electric supply transactions in nearly every deregulated market in the country.
Jerry is a member of the Association of Energy Services Professionals, as well as the Association of Energy Engineers, and has contributed energy-related articles to national and regional business publications. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Illinois, and a Master’s of Science degree from Chicago State University.
Charles Saville
Vice President Charlie Saville heads the commissioning and green building services. His numerous responsibilities include facility commissioning and re-commissioning, lighting design and computer simulation modeling, and LEED for new buildings.
Charlie joined the firm in 1998. He routinely lectures in Triton College’s architectural program, and has developed curriculum material for the Illinois Institute of Technology’s (IIT) Advanced Materials and Foundation classes. He speaks on energy engineering and energy efficient lighting issues at the Illuminating Society in Chicago, and shares his views in a number of industry periodicals as well as conference materials.
Charlie is a LEED Accredited Professional and a Certified Energy Manager. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from IIT, with a minor in city planning.
Michael Kuk
Mike, the director of technical services, works with clients, design teams, contractors and fellow engineers on various energy management and construction projects. His many other duties include planning and executing commissioning and re-commissioning activities, leading energy audits and doing computer simulation modeling and utility rate analysis as well as specialized HVAC analyses.
He is a Major in the Wisconsin National Guard, and a veteran of the Iraq war. Mike came over from Exelon in 2004 after 14 years with the energy company, where he held multiple positions within their marketing and technical services department. He earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering technology from the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
Christopher Philbrick
As director of commissioning services, Chris leads a team of experienced engineers that has provided commissioning services on multiple LEED projects as well as retro-commissioning of existing facilities. He has an active role in helping clients adopt sensible energy strategies, including conducting energy audits, ENERGY STAR validations, and sustainability planning.
Chris has spoken extensively on energy efficiency and commissioning and is a course instructor for: The Mechanical Contractors Association, the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance, and is an adjunct professor at the City Colleges of Chicago. Chris received his MS and BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Illinois, as well as LEED AP, and a Certified Energy Manager (CEM). He is a member of the United States Green Building Council - Illinois Chapter, and was the Chicago Chapter Chair in 2004.
Todd Edwards
Todd Edwards is SEA’s Director of Sustainability for Existing Buildings. In that role he delivers strategic energy management solutions and LEED EBOM project consulting to an array of clients in various industries. Areas of specialty include energy-related climate change consulting, energy information management, GHG accounting, LEED EBOM project management, and energy program management. He joined Sieben Energy Associates in 2006.
Prior to joining SEA, Todd conducted corporate development and strategy research for Fortune 500 and Global 1000 firms. He holds a B.S. degree in Economics from DePaul University and an M.A. degree in International Relations from the University of Kent, Brussels campus. Todd is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and a LEED Accredited Professional with Specialty (LEED AP O&M). He is actively involved in the local sustainability community, and he is a member of the GHG Management Institute as well as the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists.
